Recently, the China Building Energy Efficiency Association and Chongqing University online released the "2022 China Urban and Rural Construction Carbon Emissions Series Research Report" (hereinafter referred to as the report). The report shows that in 2020, the total energy consumption of construction and construction in China will be 2.27 billion tons of standard coal, accounting for 45.5% of the total energy consumption in the country. In 2020, China's total carbon emissions from construction and construction will be 5.08 billion tons of carbon dioxide, accounting for 50.9% of the country's carbon emissions. In 2020, the total carbon emissions from construction operations in China will be 2.16 billion tons of carbon dioxide, accounting for 21.7% of the national carbon emissions.

Through the calculation and analysis of carbon emission of city-level buildings, the research finds that the carbon emission of urban buildings varies greatly between the north and south and the east and west. The aggregate value of carbon emissions from urban building operations in China in 2020 is 2.06 billion tons of carbon dioxide. The carbon emission of urban buildings in China shows an obvious decreasing distribution from north to south and from east to west.

The report reveals that the carbon emissions of urban buildings are closely related to the level of urban economic development, and there are differences in population size and energy use structure, etc. The carbon emissions of urban public buildings are more closely related to the GDP of urban tertiary industry, and the cities with higher urbanization rate and per capita GDP have higher per capita carbon emissions of buildings. The distribution inequality of building carbon emissions between cities is weaker than that of economic distribution.

In terms of carbon emissions from urban sewage treatment, the report shows that in 2020, the carbon emissions of the whole process of urban sewage treatment in China will be 34.16 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, the carbon offset will be 7.691 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, and the net emissions will be 26.469 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent.

In addition, the report also published the urban solid waste treatment carbon emissions. The report shows that in 2020, the carbon emissions of the whole process of urban solid waste treatment in China will be 94.045 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, the carbon offset will be 47.035 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent, and the net emissions will be 47.01.0 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent. The difference of carbon emission in the whole process of municipal solid waste treatment by provinces is obvious, mainly due to the amount of municipal solid waste production and treatment methods.

It is reported that the report is the 7th annual report issued by the China Building Energy Efficiency Association and Chongqing University. This year's research report consists of three sub-reports, namely, "China Building Energy Consumption and Carbon Emissions Research Report 2022", "China Urban Sewage Treatment Carbon Emissions Research Report 2022", "China Urban solid waste Treatment carbon emissions Research Report 2022", focusing on 2020 national, provincial and urban building carbon emissions data. The carbon emission measurement results of national and provincial urban sewage treatment and municipal solid waste treatment in 2020 were analyzed.
